Love Overflowing

Happy Anniversary Stephen!

Six years ago today I married my best friend. If you would have asked me on my wedding day how I would imagine my life at this time, I wouldn’t have know what to tell you. I never imagined that life could be this good. That I would have a family and still be so in love with my husband. We have our ups and downs, as I am sure every relationship does, but our love prevails. Every year, every month, every day…It grows stronger.

Thank you for saying “I do” six years ago. I love our life together. Every year it changes. We mature, we grow, our family grows. The future holds nothing but love. We have a beautiful daughter and within the next 5 plus months we will be adding to our family again. Life is good.

If I have to travel this roller coaster called life, I am truly blessed to travel it with you.

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life!

A little more real….

I am now 16 weeks pregnant. I still don’t “feel” pregnant. It really hasn’t sunk in yet either. I am sure it will become more real as my belly looks more like it’s housinga baby, not housing a package of lard. But I am not there yet. I am not sure if it is because, for two and a half years, I have been telling myself that Emily was going to be my only precious child. I had made my peace with it and was happy with our future. Don’t get me wrong, I am beyond thrilled and over the moon to be able to add to our family but it’s just a huge adjustment on my part. I just haven’t been able to wrap my brain around the situation yet. I am happy though. I can’t wait to meet this little person. I am sure once s/he makes themselve known with kicks and such it will set in and the reality will hit me in the face. I will be the mommy of two come January.

I have had 4 ultrasounds since finding out I was pregnant. Yes, 4. Many people get 2 or so. I have been fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it) to have been able to see my little one on the screen a lot. That trend won’t change anytime soon either unfortunately. I am dealing with some issues with this pregnancy that I won’t bore you with the details. It entails limited activity and more monitoring. Kind of sucky in a way but I am very blessed to be dealing with the issues I am having. I have another ultrasound scheduled for the week we come back from vacation to see how/if the issue has progressed. Prayers that it progresses in the right way. The good thing is that it is not severe enough to put me on bed rest or cause us to cancel our vacation plans. The baby seems healthy at this point and that is what counts.

Stephen and I got to see the little one on Thursday. That baby was bouncing around like crazy! It was so funny to see the little arms and legs moving like they were in a kung-fu movie. I can only imagine what I am going to be feeling soon! The poor tech was having such a hard time getting a read on the heart rate because of the constant movement. I hope that isn’t a sign of what is to come! By the way, the ultrasound tech thinks she knows what we are having! She told us but we want to make sure at our next appointment since I will be 20+ weeks at that point.

I guess I should start scanning some pictures into the computer at some point! We’ll have an album full by the time the baby is born!

Happy Birthday Grandma!!!

Tuesday was Grandma’s birthday if you haven’t figured it out yet. We went over after dinner to celebrate with her. Of course, no birthday would be complete without opening presents and eating sweets!

Emily is REALLY getting into the present thing. She is becoming a master opener and helps everyone open their presents. Almost to the point of the person having nothing to open!  Thank goodness her birthday is coming soon! I am going to have to distract her at cousin Chloe’s birthday otherwise Chloe might cry!

I am truly lucky to have the best mother in law in the world. She is always there for you. She listens to me whine and is always there to offer support. She is one of the kindest people I know and is willing to help anyone out. She is always so generous with her time. Best of all, she loves Emily to pieces. The feeling is beyond mutual! Emily loves her Grandma so much. I am really glad to see them have such a special relationship. It’s hard living away from my family, as Emily doesn’t get to see her other grandparents as much so it’s nice that she has such a good, close relationship with at least one set.

Happy Birthday Charla!!!!! You are the best!!!!

Grandma Project #2

Finally finished! Grandma wanted a stepping stone for her birthday made by Emily. I got the kit from Michael’s but didn’t realize that it would take so long to cure so Grandma got an empty box on her actual birthday. We have the stone ready to give to her today when she drops Emily off.

I think it turned out pretty cute and not too bad being the work of a 2 1/2 year old and a silly mommy. Emily had a lot of fun making it. She wasn’t too sure about the concrete on her hand but she enjoyed putting the stars and glitter into the goop. I hope Grandma loves it!

PS- Please ignore the glare on the first couple of pictures. A certain little girl thought she would take some pictures and fingered the lens. Didn’t realize that I needed to clean it until I looked at the fuzzy pictures.

Grandma Project #1

We have been working on two projects for Grandma’s birthday the past week. One is finished and one isn’t. Today is her birthday. Let’s just say she is going to get the empty box of the unfinished one with an IOU. Whoops!!! My bad!

Emily really, really enjoyed making both of these for her Grandma. I think this project turned out not too bad for our first try.

Blueberry Crunch Coffee Cake

Yet another recipe. I have been a baking fool lately!

This recipe was very easy and so yummy! We warmed it up in the microwave and had it for breakfast this morning. Emily ate a pretty big piece so it was a hit.

  • ¼ cups Butter, Softened (only Use Real Butter!)
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ⅓ cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups Fresh Blueberries
  • Topping
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • ⅓ cups All-purpose Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Make cake batter by creaming butter, sugar, and egg. Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla. Don’t over-mix.

Spread batter in a greased 9 x 9 square baking pan and top with blueberries.

Combine the topping ingredients using a fork or pastry blender. Sprinkle mixture over berries.

Bake at 350 degrees, 30-33 minutes or until it tests done in the center.

NOTE: This can easily be baked in an 8×8 pan if you don’t have a 9 inch pan, since there isn’t a lot of batter.

I also used half whole wheat flour and half all purpose flour.
