Love Overflowing

Girl’s night out

I admit it- I like the Twilight series. I enjoyed every book and have seen every movie so far.  My friend Tracy has a party when each movie comes out and this year I was able to attend. My word! I am not sure why I haven’t made the previous ones but I know I will definitely make the next one. How fun!

There were so many fun-loving women present, many who I know from the playgroup. I knew they were a lot of fun but I didn’t know they were that much fun! My friend Julie and I had a blast! We ate, drank, played trivia and kissed posters. We took a party bus to and from the theater and one of us almost got kicked out. Jello shots. Enough said.

You don’t have to be young to have a good time. You just have to be young at heart and willing to cut loose. A few libations never hurt either. I had a really good time and can’t wait to do this again!

Sibling love

I looked in the rearview mirror the other day and I saw a sweet sight.

He really was happy, even if he doesn’t look like it in the picture. This is what I hear:

Emily: “Zachary, do you love your big sister?

Long pause

Zachary: “I don’t.”

Huh?!? Surely, I thought, he didn’t just say that. Then Emily yells “He said ‘I don’t’!!!!!!!” Yep. I must have heard it right if Emily heard it.

And then she smacks his arm. Wonder why he said that?

This is what happens….

This is what happens when you forget to take a diaper out of the pile of clothes from the pool and wash it. At least it didn’t explode!

A day with the girls

Sans kids. That was the best part!

This past Saturday, I met up with my two sisters and two of my cousins for some shopping and laughter. They were crazy and had been up since before dawn since they hit a consignment sale first. I, on the other hand, chose to sleep a little later and met up with them around 9am. Still early in a lot of people’s books!

We had a great time! We laughed, talked and shopped. We found some super cute stuff and some even better bargains! My bargain of the day was a pair of Sev7n jeans, normally $89.50, for $6.99! They might be a little tight but I am seeing the scale go down so I couldn’t pass up a cute pair of jeans at that price!

The weather put a damper on our fun though. We had to cut our day short because Mother Nature is bi-polar and thought snow was something that we needed. I made it home in one piece, going no more than 60 the entire way. And that was maybe for 5 minutes. My eyes hurt from straining with the snow but it was all worth it.

We are going to have to do this more often. We already have a day planned in May in the works!

The many faces of Zachary

Going through breakfast with Zachary is an adventure. You have to watch for the land mines of food thar he has tossed over the side of the high chair. You have to dodge the tossed milk cup and bring your ear plugs. If he runs out of food, you will know it!
Here are a few facial expressions… All within a two minute period!

Crazy little man

Zachary is a man on the go. Always moving and shaking. It’s getting increasingly difficult to get a picture of him that isn’t blurry because sitting still is so last year. I have a couple of videos that showcase his nuttiness. Enjoy!

Zachary is rocking out to Beyonce’

Zachary is deliriously tired in the second one. He decided that he should give break-dancing a try instead of sleeping.

You can pick your friends…

You can pick apples, but you can’t pick apples out of your friend’s nose?? Silly Emily!

Last Saturday, after the Oktoberfest parade, we headed to the orchard to pick some apples. We went last year with Emily and had such an amazing time that we knew we had to go back again this year. I am glad we were finally able to go! It kept getting put farther down our “to-do list”. Either something would come up during the weekend or it would just be too darn hot! We really pushed it late in the season and there were many, many apples on the ground. The smell of rotten apples was enough to make you gag every once in a while.  Despite the smell, it was a great time.

Had a “kids say what is on their minds even if it isn’t appropriate” moment while standing in line waiting for the wagon to take us to the orchard. There was  family near us with three boys, the youngest being 2 or 3. Emily says, really loudly, “Mommy!! That boy has a binkie!!! Why does he have a binkie?? He’s too old!!” Really must work on teaching her that there is a time and a place for everything. Also that we don’t always say what is on our minds, loudly. Thank goodness we weren’t sitting next to them on the wagon ride!

We took the wagon over to the orchard, found an apple picker and started the hunt for the perfect apples. Emily and Stephen did most of the picking while I took pictures and chased Zachary. They got some really good apples. 18 pounds to be exact! We then headed back to the main part of the orchard. To the play area we went! Emily had a blast. She got to jump in the bounce house, ride the swings and even rode a little carnival ride all by herself! I didn’t know how she would do on “The Cyclone” but luckily another little girl rode with her. All we could hear was giggling so I think it was a success.

Another year at the orchard. Another success. Have I mentioned that I love fall?

Good vs evil

Zachary definitely has an opinion!

He really had to work on choking down the avocados. Choking being the key word. He looks like a contestant on Fear Factor eating bugs. Trying really hard to keep it down. Not a hit.
Ice cream on the other hand….. He couldn’t get it fast enough. He must take after his mommy. I think he might be addicted after his first taste.

Headphones required

Zachary has been on a yelling tear lately. He will make you aware of his displeasure via his loud voice. Man, that boy has a set of lungs on him!
Emily got smart the other day. She remembered that she has a pair of headphones. We jokingly call them the NASCAR pit crew headphones. They are basically the same thing. Don’t want to hear the loud fireworks? Put ’em on. Too loud at the ballpark? They’ll work. Block out baby beorher’s yells? Sho ’nuff.
Smart girl. Smart girl.
