Love Overflowing

Stephen had a birthday

Man, he is getting old! I can only get away with saying that because he is two years older than I am. Still probably can’t get away with it but I am just saying it anyway.

Stephen celebrated the big 3-5 on the day after Valentine’s Day. He took the day off and got to spend some quality time with me and the kids. Emily had preschool that morning and her Valentine’s Day party so he really got to spend some good time with Zachary while I helped out with her party. We celebrated with a yummy lunch and dinner out. Grandma and Aunt Kristina came over later that evening for cake and presents. I hope Stephen had a wonderful day. I am so very lucky to have spent another year with him. He is a wonderful husband, father and provider. I am very blessed to have him in my life.

Monkeying around

The monkey party was a few weeks ago. Even inviting immediate family, we still had a house full. It was great! Although Zachary didn’t think so at first. He hadn’t had his afternoon nap so he was a little concerned as his house was being invaded by so many people. It took him awhile to warm up to his cousins and begin to play with them but he eventually got into the groove.
After letting the kids play for a bit, Zachary dove into his monkey cake. He wasn’t sure about the whole singing and candle thing though. It’s different when there’s only a few people singing off key but when you have 20 people singing off key…. And then there were the presents. Zachary opened a few but really wasn’t into it.
It was a great party and we are so blessed to have such wonderful family to share the day with us. Zachary was pretty spoiled. He is a very much loved little boy.

Zachary turned 1!

365 days have past since my sweet baby entered the world. It’s amazing how fast that year seemed to go. There is no way to slow down time and make your children grow a little slower. You blink and they have passed another milestone!

To Zachary, January 12 was just another day. To the rest of the family, January 12 was a celebration. A celebration for a little boy who has rocked our world and turned it upside down! We wanted to make the day special for him. A special day for a special boy. After a sugar filled breakfast commemorating mommy’s last meal, we headed to the mall so Zachary could play in their play area. Plenty of room to crawl and climb. What else could a monkey want? For lunch, we headed to McDonald’s so both kids could play some more. The location has a little area designed for little ones- perfect for Zachary. Emily could run off some energy while Zachary got to play as well. It had several of his favorite things- meat, steering wheels and slides.

After a much needed nap, Zachary opened some presents. Emily was pretty antsy for this part. His eyes lit up when he saw his Cozy Coupe. It was a car! And it had wheels! And he has a more than willing older sister who will push him around for long periods of time. It doesn’t get much better than that. Once he saw the coupe it was pretty much over for the rest of the presents. After several trips in his new wheels, we headed over to Applebee’s for dinner with Grandma and Aunt Kristina. Dinner was good but it was made even better by one of his favorite people in the world- his Gaga.

Then came cake. You can’t have a birthday without cake! I made him a “1” cake to share with everyone. He got to smash into a pretty large piece. It was so funny because he didn’t know what to do with his cake. The look in his eyes was “Mommy, usually you cut my food up for me.” He was pretty unsure of the whole situation. He finally decided to go for it. He picked up the WHOLE piece and started gnawing on it. There was no smashing or grabbing. He was eating it all in one piece.

I think Zachary partied pretty hard for a 1 year old!

Emily’s birthday- Party #2

Emily thought she had hit the jackpot this year because she got to have TWO parties! Two cakes, two songs, two present opening fun. What more could a girl want? After having fun at the Kiddie Parade, we headed back to my sister’s for cupcakes and fun.

Thanks to my family for having us and helping us celebrate Emily turning 4!

Emily’s birthday- Party #1

Emily thinks she is the luckiest girl in the world. She got to have TWO parties this year! Her first party was on her birthday at McDonalds. Her friends, Aunt Nina, Grandma and Papa partied hard with her. I think all the kids really enjoyed themselves. They got to run and scream all they wanted! Let me tell you- that place was LOUD! Plus they got a Happy Meal, cake and ice cream. What more could a kid want?

A huge thanks to everyone who came out and helped make Emily’s birthday memorable! She really appreciated it. She still tells people about her party.

Side note:
McDonald’s was totally the way to go this year. I am glad that I was able to convince Emily to have her party there. I didn’t have to clean the house before and after the party. McDonald’s took care of pretty much everything. Which was really nice considering I was a single mom the week prior while Stephen was attending a conference. And was sick on top of it.

Emily Grace

Four years ago, God decided to send you to me. I am so very proud that He chose me to be your mommy. I very honored to be able to watch over you, be there for you and watch you grow. You are a true blessing to your daddy and me.

You are so full of life! Your smile can light up a room. You have a charisma and can charm anyone. I love how you have really blossomed and come out of your shell. You will talk to anyone about just about anything! Sometimes I get embarrassed but I love you regardless.

You have taken on the role of big sister with gusto. Your brother loves you so much! You are his world. You are mostly gentle with him and are willing to share your toys with him, as long as he doesn’t slobber on all of them. His eyes light up ever time he sees you and he misses you when you are not home. The love that he has for you is a testament of your sweetness.

Even though you can be sweet and wonderful, you do have your dramatic times. Sometimes I wonder if you are turning 4 or 14! Little things set you off at times and seem like the end of the world. I sometimes call you “drama queen”. Stub your toe- the world knows. Zachary chews on your baby doll’s hand and I come running, wondering what is wrong. I can only imagine you in ten years. Be gentle to your mommy!

You love princesses and dresses. You love to be fancy and dance and sing. Your little imagination is springing out and I love it! Hearing you make up songs brings a smile to my face. Your favorite thing is still your babby (blanket). You sleep every night with your stuffed friends Frenchy, Lucy and Nick on the end of your bed. You love to listen to Laurie Berkner, Katie Perry, Lady Gaga and much more. “Turn up the radio Mommy!” “Stop singing Mommy!”

You speak so well also. Many people can’t believe that you are four years old by the way that you talk. I am so very proud of you. You love preschool and Sunday School. You love learning! Your best friend is Chase. You are so full of life and spunk.

As you grow and change, some things will stay the same. I’ll always love you. I’ll always hug you. I’ll always be on your side. And I want you to know that. No matter what happens I will always be there for you. I can’t wait to see you grow and blossom.

Thank you for being you.

Princess Chloe’s birthday

Princess Chloe is 346 days younger than Emily. For 10 whole days, they will be 3 at the same time. We went to Centralia to celebrate Chloe’s birthday last weekend. Emily was so excited that she couldn’t get to sleep Friday night and she was up at the crack of dawn Saturday morning. She loves Chloe if you can’t tell.

The kids all had so much fun! My sister had a little bounce house for the kids to play in and that was a HUGE hit! Even Zachary got in on the action! It’s always a good time seeing all the cousins together. Our family is growing by leaps and bounds!

Happy birthday Princess Chloe! We had a great time at your party!

A fun party

Fun, but exhausting. For me anyway. We had originally planned on having Emily’s party at the park this year but Mother Nature didn’t think it was a good idea. Of COURSE, it was nice and sunny Saturday morning. It was chilly windy though so it’s a good thing that we made the call on Friday to move the party indoors. It was fun, just a bit crowded.

I hope all of the kids and adults had a good time! I know we did. Almost everyone that Emily loved was at the party. Some family couldn’t make it but that’s understandable. She had aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins and some of her favorite friends over to celebrate her big day.

It was a “Pinkalicious” themed party. Emily wanted pink cake, pink ice cream, pink jelly beans and pink lemonade! The kids read Pinkalicious, played a game and decorated pink cupcakes. What more could a little girl ask for?!

I do have to say that Emily, Stephen and I have the best friends and family in the whole world! They are always so much fun, kind and generous. We couldn’t make it through life without them. Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate Emily’s 3rd birthday! The love was definitely felt on Saturday.

Happy 1st Birthday Timothy!!!!

My nephew celebrated his first birthday this past Thursday. We went to Centralia to celebrate on Saturday. My brother did a great job putting on a party, especially considering this was his first one ever to organize.

All the kids and adults had a great time. Thank goodness it was held indoors, as it was 97 that day! Emily and her cousins had so much fun running around, playing with balls and bubbles. We had a good visit with family as well.

I think Timothy really enjoyed his cake and ice cream, as they had to give him a bath in the sink before he could open presents!

Happy Birthday Timothy!!! I hope your life is full of love and laughter. You have a family that will always love and support you.

PS- I took a ton of pictures. They are in the Picasa album (June).
