Magical fun at the Magic House

We were supposed to go to the Transportation Museum on Monday but decided that 95 was a bit too hot to be surrounded by pavement and metal. We’ll save that for the fall. We decided to head to the Magic House instead since that was on our list of places to go.

We went with our good friends Julie, Chase, Slade and their Grandma. Their Grandma is awesome. A lot of fun and easy to talk to. Emily fell in love and was calling her “Grandma” and had to make sure she was holding her hand. It was so cute! Emily is always in heaven when she is around her best friends!

It was so much fun! The last time we were there we didn’t get to see much of the new section so we explored that first. We played in a construction site, fairy tale land and thought about climbing a three story bean stalk. The girls decided that they were too chicken to try it though. What do you expect from a 3 and 2 1/2 year old?

We also spent much time in the “old” section. We had to hit Emily’s favorite part- the water table. I thought I was going to have to carry her out kicking and screaming. I really must find her a water table. The kids started getting hungry and restless after about 2 hours so we headed out. There was still so much to see and do though! Just means that we will have to make another trip soon.

I think a great time was had by everyone!

Grant’s Farm

We had a somewhat busy Memorial Day weekend so I think I will do two entries.

Saturday we took Emily to Grant’s Farm for the first time. She was so excited to see the “horsies”. That was the first thing we did when we got there- head to the stables. There were quite a few Clydsdales out in the morning. We even got to see a baby taking a rest. She loved it!

We then headed across the street so we could see the rest. She didn’t quite understand why we had to wait in line before we did anything! And it rained while we were on the tram. Go figure. The only rain on the radar was over Grant’s Farm. It was ok though since we were covered. We got to see so many animals! Emily loved the deer and buffalos the best.

After we got off of the tram, we HAD to ride the new carousel there. If there is a carousel anywhere, Emily must ride it. We then checked out the elephants and headed over for lunch. We were going to take in an elephant show after lunch but Emily wasn’t feeling well and her belly started hurting so we headed home.

It was still a good trip even if it got cut short. We got to see tons of animals, walk around and got a souvenir. This was a milestone for Emily. It was the first time she had ever named one of her animals by herself! She named her stuff Clydesdale “Sear”. Not sure where that come from but that’s the name. We had to take one last peek at the “horsies” before we left despite the fever and ucky tummy.

Happiness is a butterfly

Yesterday Emily and I went to the Butterfly House with some of our friends. It’s always a good time when Chase, Slade and Kara are around! Emily squeals with excitement every time I tell her that we have an outing planned.

The Butterfly House was no exception. Butterflies, butterflies everywhere! It was so amazing! I love going there, being surrounded by nature and beauty. Every time you go is a different experience. This was the first time that Emily was on foot when we went. She enjoyed not being strapped into a stroller and being able to run through butterfly clouds and look at the waterfall.

After we sweated it up watching the butterflies, we let the kids play outside on the giant caterpillar for a few minutes before we headed over to the carousel. Carousels, carousels…Emily loves carousels! She’d ride one all day long if I let her. I usually have to carry her off the platform, mad because the ride is over. Tuesday was no exception.

A great day overall! Thanks Julie and Cassie for a good time! Can’t wait for the next outing!

PS- You know I took a ton more pictures. They are in the April 2009 folder in the Picasa album linked on the left.

Pumpkin Land

Thursday Emily and I went to Pumpkin Land with a friend of mine and her kiddos. All 3 children are fairly close in age so they get along together really well. Her daughter and Emily play really well together at the gym. Emily and S are getting to be better friends; as they had a rocky start. All of that was a distant memory yesterday when we were playing in the hay!

We finally found the farm, despite the directions from google maps. I think they cut my brain out when they cut my hair. It was SO simple to get there but we were going in circles. It was definitely worth the confusion!!

It was a little chilly in the morning but once we started moving we didn’t even notice. There was so much to see and do. Emily is really coming out of her shell too. She was telling people in the parking lot “Hi” and waving to them. She is also becoming a daredevil as well. She wanted to ride on the zip wire thing swings. I was surprised! She stood in line like such a big girl too! I was very impressed! She climbed up the tower of hay bales, went through the maze and even went down several slides.

There was so much to see and do there! We were there for almost 2 hours and it seemed like 10 minutes! We didn’t even get to do everything while we were there! They have hay rides, giant tire swings, huge pumpkins and more! All 3 kids had such a wonderful time. I had to climb over the sides of the maze to get Emily when it was time to leave. She was not a happy camper! She would have stayed all day long but it was getting to be lunch and nap time.

There are tons more pictures in my Picasa album. Click the link on the right! I would have taken even more but my battery died!!!!! Oh the humanity! LOL!

Vacation: St. Louis style

We decided that our vacation wasn’t over until we said it was over and we weren’t ready for it to be over on Tuesday! Wednesday was our St. Louis day. We had a full day planned despite the yucky heat and humidity.

Emily actually slept in so we got a late start but after breakfast we headed over to the zoo. We got to see the baby giraffe, baby zebra and baby tiger cubs, among all the other animals. And of course, Emily got a ride on the carousel. Wouldn’t be a zoo trip without a ride on the horsies!
After lunch on the Hill, we headed over to the Magic House. Stephen had never been so it was a fun experience for him as well. Of course, Emily’s favorites were the slides and water tables. It was a real adventure! Everyone had fun!
And what’s a St. Louis day without Ted Drewe’s????? We had to cap our day off with a little frozen custard. I think Emily was more enthralled with the little water cups that you get there though. She loves her ice cream but it took a little coaxing for her to eat it.

Thursday. What can I say about Thursday. Grandma wanted to spend some time with Emily so she came and picked her up for lunch. So Stephen and I had the day to ourselves!!! We went to Nobu’s for lunch and had some yummy sushi! Then headed over to have some fun and look for a halloween costume for Emily. We had a great time- alone together. That doesn’t happen as much as it should. It was nice. And we did find the costume for Emily- after looking at 4 different stores and walking 3 malls!
